| Thinker : Being : Crow Consciousness | |||||
|
Walking out to my car yesterday, I saw a crow sitting on a rooftop seeming to watch me. I wondered "what is it thinking?" I imagined the crow as an intelligent being, full of "crow wisdom", as the native Americans say. The crow is also a messenger. He will report back to the great spirit what he has seen. Then it struck me, what if this crow is fully conscious, fully aware, just as I am (or more so)? Maybe the crow is the fully cognizant one, looking at me from his world. From his fully cognizant perspective, he sees me as I see him: I am to him, a rather dull animal, without an awareness of being or consciousness. This applies to my friend's dog, too. What if in the dog's world, we are the dogs, they are the people? What if this applies to all things, or just to all living things? Each living thing is fully aware and conscious in its own universe; the more unrelated a thing is to itself, the more that other being seems to be unintelligent or unenlightened. |
