It all started when I saw myself running in a grassy field in zig-zags like an airplane swooping or a motorcycle cornering hard. I noticed a girl behind me keeping up and catching up. She turned into a boy with a knife. I grabbed the knife and jabbed it in the ground. It broke at the haft. I went to a berm to put the broken knife in a recycling bin. The boy was back to a girl. She was hiding in the bushes. I flashed my light on her every once in a while. She thought it was fun. We played tag some more. Then I started to fly. We were near a power station. I flew around it pretty effortlessly. I noticed small wires twisting into larger and larger power cablessomething to do with how the power is generatedsmall differences are created into oppositesthen those differences are collected into a power. I fly high above the main power lines. I see that it is a dam. I loose control and fly far up the lake. I'm very high up the side of a cliff and suddenly get very tired and scared. I grab a black metal railing at the edge of a balcony on the cliff and swing a leg over. I knock on the back door which opens onto the balcony. A woman and her maid answer the knock. I begin explaining my presence and that I used to house sit her house, and not only that, her daughter married my brother. (I guess this means that it was Maureen, Julie's mother.) Suddenly, looking out over the balcony, I notice that he lake has been drained. It is empty of water, just a few puddles around. The river that feeds the lake had to be shut off due to drought. There are rangers on horse back investigating. Two rangers near us. One of them is stuffing the horse shit just let by his horse back into the horses ass. Lots of people are now screaming in the river bed because the water is returning. All they need to do is stand up and get out, but they are afraid. I jump down (about two steps) into the river and grab two small black/vietnamese children. I carry them back to safety through a wonder-bread-wrapper-colored hall of convenience stores. I realize that the children may be separated from their father. |
