Thinker : Reverence : Gandhi and Christianity

I just read a paper from my freshman year at college called "Gandhi and Christianity". The message was simple:
Gandhi saw religions of the world as man's reaching for God and only partially, if at all, ordained by God. Jesus, if he existed, was a man like us who had reached some enlightenment.

Christianity doesn't own God; God is found outside religion. The prophets are men like us; we can be like them.

I was implicitly defending Gandhi's position in resistance to the fundamentalism I was a part of in high school. I was trying to understand why my deep faith in Christianity had left me as empty as before "I accepted Jesus into my heart." Doing the paper helped me grow out of my evangelical Christian mode.

Back then I was looking for an understanding of God to ease my internal misery. I'm still looking today, sixteen years later. What I have I done since then? Where have I been?
