Thinker : Reverence : Sacred Icon

by Date

Let's make up a new icon which means "This place is marked as sacred." The mark will mean that we have invested reverence in the place. We have opened our spiritual eye to see the presence of the eternal in this place which is marked.

The icon should be round (for earth, wholeness and completion) and easy to draw for the artistically impaired. It should be amenable to spray paint, pencils and scratching into surfaces. It should be a single color but work with more than one color. It should not be necessary to fill in areas. It should be quick and easy to draw—with a bit of a zen-artist flair for painting in the moment— appealing to the eye and intriguing in it's proportion and implied meanings or representations.

Marking an object or place should be a small meditation, like the spin of a prayer wheel.

The meanings should include "God come down", "the spirit made manifest", "the eternal recognized in the temporal", "all things reflected in this place", "oneness in multiplicity", "I see the truth here", "the myriad beings support this place and this place supports all", "the center of the universe".
