Trying to narrow down what is the issue in our unhappy world: In some way it is part of being removed from who we are as individuals and as a culture. We have created a world of our making and treat it like the whole cosmos. What is left of the real world—nature, the weather, other species, etc—we are marginalizing and controlling. Our ultimate goal seems for us to see ourselves everywhere we turn. I don't like this happening in my world. It's effect on me is pervasive and inestimable. Perhaps we should try to see everything in ourselves. |
